AUGUST
Mini Issue
19th AUGUST 2025

For this mini issue, we asked people to send us work that reminds them of August. This could be a memory, the setting, a person, a feeling, and the responses we received were infected with everything we were looking for.
We didn't want to see renditions of Summer works about beaches, ice creams, and back-to-school shopping.
Naturally, as a journal who seeks the unordinary and unsettling, we wanted to see works placed in parched grasslands, no AC, sweating it out in the back of a parking lot, rigged slot machines and clinking coins, thumbs deep in an apricot, hideous, floral furniture, hardwood floors, ice cold Coca-Cola from a sketchy side road gas station, cowboys, christ, and nothing for miles and miles and miles.
This issue features our favourite works that exemplify the dehydration, rotting, and longing that August brings and leaves behind.
Edited and designed by Poppy Higgins, Ella Lighten, Simon Harris, Hannah Louise, Zafran Zakaria, Kimberly Garcia, Laiba Suleman, and Newt Wolter.
Featuring cover art by Hannah Louise, and works from: Al Mcclimens, Michael Best, Katia Engell, Rachel Turney, Amanda Trout, Bobbi Dix, Nicholas Viglietti, Tanner Abernathy, Maurice Hibbits, Niranjana Balram Menon, Stephen Mead, June Evrian, Alexandra Cipriani, Rae Mosley, Saturn, and Paige.
